JENESYS2017 Japan-ASEAN Students Conference

The Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam would like to announce that 11 students of Brunei Darussalam will depart for Japan on 18 September to participate in “Japan-ASEAN Students Conference” under the JENESYS 2017 program during 19-26 September.
JENESYS 2017 is a people-to-people exchange program between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region launched by the Japanese Government. This program will include approximately 3,700 people in a year. The program aims at promoting mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan and the Asia-Pacific region and building a basis for future friendship and cooperation. It also encourages an understanding and dissemination of Japan’s economics, society, history, diverse culture, politics and diplomatic relations.
“Japan-ASEAN Students Conference” is composed of Students from ASEAN Member States and Japan. The main objective of the Conference is “What the Youth in ASEAN Member States and Japan can do for Peace and Prosperity.” Participants will be divided into 4 composite groups and discuss the group theme (Natural Disaster, Economic Development, Environmental Problems and Social Activities in Community).
During the program in Japan, the group will stay in Tokyo, Tohoku area and Kyushu area and receive lectures and visit educational sites and institutions, high-tech and traditional industries, world heritage sites, provincial government office.
The Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam hopes that this exchange will continue to further contribute to fostering Brunei-Japan friendships, particularly among the younger generation.
