On 31 August 2026, His Excellency Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam paid a courtesy call on Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office（Energy, Upstream and Downstream）, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah.
During the courtesy call, Ambassador Kikuta offered his sincere congratulations on the Minister's appointment and underscored the significance of the longstanding energy cooperation between Japan and Brunei Darussalam. Both sides exchanged views on various energy issues, as well as the further strengthening of bilateral energy cooperation, including the stable supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
