The Japanese Food Fair 2026, co-organised by the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam and OneCity Shopping Centre, was held on 8 and 9 August 2026. Following its successful inauguration in 2024, this year's event marks the third edition of the fair.
The fair aims to specifically introduce and promote Japanese food to the people of Brunei. A total of 35 local and international vendors gathered at the fair, offering a wide variety of Japanese food and beverages.
The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, and Mr Lau Soon Lin, the owner of OneCity Shopping Centre. At the finale of the ceremony, visitors enjoyed a MAGURO KAITAI (tuna cutting) performance by Yamako Pacific (B) Sdn Bhd. This year, a cooking demonstration of Onigirazu was performed by the Culinary School of Laksamana College, showcasing Japanese-inspired culinary techniques. A sushi making workshop was also held by the chef of the Embassy on the second day of the fair.
Through this two-day event, the Embassy hopes that interest in and recognition of Japanese food and food culture has increased, while further strengthening the friendship between Japan and Brunei Darussalam.
