On July 28, Ambassador Kikuta attended the opening ceremony of the 16th International Summer Medical School, an exchange programme between the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah (PAPRSB) Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and the Faculty of Medicine, Kagawa University of Japan. Five students from Kagawa University are participating in this year's programme. Under the theme of "Healthy Aging Across Cultures," the students will spend approximately three weeks with their UBD counterparts, engaging in lectures, discussions, and visits to medical facilities, as well as participating in a range of cultural exchange activities.

On July 30, Ambassador Kikuta received a courtesy call from the professors and participating students from Kagawa University's Faculty of Medicine and exchanged views on academic and medical exchanges between the two countries. Ambassador Kikuta commended the programme for its long-standing continuation and its significant contribution to building a network among medical students from both countries. He also encouraged the students to understand the history behind their university's relationship with Brunei and to appreciate the pioneering professors who dedicated their efforts to bring this programme to fruition. Furthermore, Ambassador Kikuta urged them to embrace a spirit of challenge and make the most of this opportunity to learn as much as they can during their time here.
