2026/7/29
Two principals and two teachers from secondary schools of Brunei took part in the Japan Foundation's "Japan-ASEAN Secondary Education Teacher Exchange Program" in 2026. During their approximately one-week stay in Japan, the two principals visited secondary schools as well as education-related institutions in Miyagi Prefecture in June, while the two teachers visited similar institutions in Aichi Prefecture in November. Through exchanges with educators and interactions with students, the participants deepened their understanding of Japanese culture and education.
On July 24, the four participants paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Kikuta. The participants enthusiastically shared their commitment to applying what they had gained through education in Japan, including not only the educational system itself, but also the intangible yet important values such as discipline and spirituality to the field of education in Brunei. Ambassador Kikuta encouraged the participants to make the most of their experiences and lessons learned from the program in their respective schools, thus contributing to the development of education in Brunei as well to the educational exchange between Japan and Brunei in the future.
