Ambassador Kikuta Congratulates Mr Watanabe on Being Awarded the Excellent Service Medal (PIKB)

His Excellency Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, congratulated Mr WATANABE Kazuharu, who was awarded the Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB) or Excellent Service Medal. Ambassador Kikuta hosted a celebratory reception at his residence on 13 May, in the presence of Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), Mohammad Yusree bin Haji Junaidi, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MPRT, officials from the Department of Fisheries at the MPRT, and Yamako Pacific staff.
Mr Watanabe, a Japanese national and general manager of Yamako Pacific (B) Sdn Bhd, was honoured with the Excellent Service Medal on 30 April 2026 in recognition of his dedication, integrity and contributions to Brunei’s development through his long-standing engagement in the fisheries sector, and was bestowed by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. Thus, Mr Watanabe became the first Japanese recipient of PIKB.
On this occasion, Ambassador Kikuta celebrated Mr Watanabe’s achievement and expressed his pleasure that Mr Watanabe’s efforts and contributions to Brunei Darussalam had been recognised, resulting in the award of this honourable medal.
