Ikebana Workshop 2026

On 18 April, an Ikebana workshop was organised by the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam at the Lifelong Learning Centre and His Excellency Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan attended the opening ceremony as host.
The ceremony was graced by Dr. Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, as the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance was Mr Lim Kian Boon, Acting Director of the Lifelong Learning Centre.
The Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) workshop was conducted by Ms TANIGUCHI Chieko, an experienced Ikebana instructor from the Sogetsu School of Japan, who introduced local participants to the principles of Ikebana. A total of 40 participants took part in the workshop, gaining hands-on experience in creating their own arrangements while learning about how to select flowers and the basic forms of Ikebana. Ms Taniguchi also led a workshop at Ambassador’s residence for another group of Bruneian participants during her stay in Brunei.
