A certificate presentation ceremony for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test 2025

On 10 April, the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam hosted a certificate presentation ceremony for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) 2025, which took place on 7 December 2025, at the residence of His Excellency Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam.
A total of 73 people took the JLPT 2025 across a range of language levels, from N1 to N5, of which 35 passed. During the ceremony, HE Ambassador Kikuta presented certificates to the successful examinees and congratulated them on their achievement. He also encouraged their continued quest for Japanese language further, citing the words for example to represent Japanese people’s never-give-up spirit “Fall seven times, stand up eight”.
Dr Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Japanese language teachers from L3C, UBD, and government secondary schools, executive members of Brunei Association of Japan Alumni (BAJA) were also invited.
The JLPT has been offered by the Japan Foundation since 1984 as a reliable means of evaluating and certifying the proficiency of non-native Japanese speakers. In Brunei, the JLPT was launched in 2008 and has been held every December since then. The JLPT 2026 will be held on Sunday, 6 December 2026. Applications will be open from August until September 2026.
