A courtesy visit from Director of PPPQ MAMBIS and staff

On 6 April, His Excellency Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan, received a courtesy call from Pengiran Haji Amiruddin bin Pengiran Haji Damit, Director of the Centre for Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination (PPPQ MABIMS) and his staff, including Mr Muhammad Ekram ‘Afif bin Haji Awang Mohd Hanafi who served as an Imam leading Sunnat Tarawih prayers during Ramadan at mosques in Japan.
 
Mr Muhammad Ekram ‘Afif noted that there are many restaurants in Japan that serve halal food and that he was warmly welcomed by many Japanese people, adding that he never felt uncomfortable as a Muslim staying in Japan. He also expressed his admiration for the discipline, punctuality, and commitment to waste reduction in Japanese society, and stated his intention to share these values and his experiences in Japan with the people of Brunei. Ambassador Kikuta was pleased to hear that Mr Muhammad Ekram ‘Afif did not experience discomfort in Japan and noted that understanding on Islamic culture in Japan is growing. Ambassador Kikuta expressed his hope that programs such as this would contribute to strengthening friendly relationship between Japan and Brunei.
