A courtesy visit from Belait Sixth Form Centre students

2026/4/8
On 2 April, His Excellency Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan, received a courtesy call from students of Belait Sixth Form Centre.

The student council of Belait Sixth Form Centre visited the Embassy to deepen their global perspective, with a particular focus on Japan. During the courtesy call, the students expressed their appreciation and enthusiasm for learning about essential Japanese principles, such as respect and discipline, and for the opportunity to draw valuable lessons from them. Ambassador Kikuta encouraged the students to deepen their understanding of Japan, emphasising the importance of exploring its history and culture beyond superficial perceptions, citing the words for example to represent Japanese people’s never-give-up spirit “Fall seven times, stand up eight”.

Following the courtesy call, the students attended a lecture on core Japanese values and culture, as well as a workshop on the traditional Japanese tea ceremony.
