Ambassador’s Commendation Ceremony and Get-together reception for friendship associations

On 13th February, Ambassador Kikuta held a ceremony to award Ambassador’s Commendation to Ms. Hajah Najmina Fairuz binti Haji Abd Latif, President of the Brunei Association of Japan Alumni (BAJA) in recognition of her contributions to promoting the friendship and educational exchanges between Japan and Brunei.
BAJA is an organization comprising Bruneian recipients of the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship and individuals who have studied in Japan, dedicated to uniting these alumni and fostering people-to-people ties between Japan and Brunei. This year marks the 40th anniversary of BAJA’s establishment, and the award also honors Ms. Hajah Najmina’s leadership and contributions during her tenure as President since 2018.
Following the ceremony, a “Get-Together Reception” was held, bringing members of BAJA, BJFA (Brunei Japan Friendship Association), BERSATU (SSEAYP International Brunei) and participants in this year’s youth exchange programmes such as JENESYS, to celebrate and reconnect.
At the outset, Ambassador Kikuta expressed his hope that these participants, who have actual, not through internet only, experience to have visited Japan and interacted with Japanese people, will continue to serve as a bridge between the two countries.
It was a memorable gathering filled with shared experiences and a strong sense of friendship between Brunei and Japan.🤝✨
