A courtesy call by KODOKAN Judo Instructors

Two instructors from the Kodokan Judo Institute, Mr Yuki Arikawa and Mr Kento Iwanaga, visited Brunei as part of a collaborative project between the Japan Foundation and Kodokan Judo Institute from 12 to 15 February 2026.
During their stay, they conducted a Kodokan Judo Seminar, providing guidance on Kata and Waza in partnership with the Brunei Judo Federation. Additionally, they led the very first Dan examinations here in Brunei. The instructors also visited local schools and academic institutions, including the Sports School and Benkyou Education Centre, to introduce Judo and promote its values.
On 12 February, they paid a courtesy call to H.E. Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan, expressing their enthusiasm for promoting the understanding of Judo in Brunei by teaching the concepts and techniques of the Kodokan Institute. Ambassador Kikuta encouraged them to continue fostering cultural exchange through Judo and to share the spirit of Japanese martial arts, embodied in Kodokan Judo in Brunei.
