A courtesy call from JENESYS 2025 ASEAN - Japan Students Conference Programme participants

On 10 February, H.E. Mr KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan, received a courtesy call from students of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Teknologi Brunei and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali who participated in “JENESYS 2025 ASEAN - Japan Students Conference Programme” held in Japan in January 2026.
Together with participants from Japan and other ASEAN countries, they were divided into three thematic groups: “Climate Change and Disaster Prevention”, “Education and Digital Technology” and “Startups and International Collaboration”, to discuss shared challenges faced by Japan and ASEAN countries. Throughout the one-week programme, the participants also visited different parts of Japan, namely the prefectures of Hiroshima, Mie and Tochigi and experienced homestays with local families.
During the courtesy call, the participants shared the experiences gained from the programme and expressed their aspirations to apply these insights to their academic pursuits in Brunei. Ambassador Kikuta emphasised the importance of youth engagement, highlighting the value of actually coming together to discuss global challenges and seek solutions through constructive dialogue.
