Ambassador Kikuta welcomes JMSDF naval ship JS YUUDACHI

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) JS (Japan Ship) YUUDACHI, deployed for anti-piracy operations off the Coast of Somalia and in the Gulf of Aden, made a port call at Muara Port on 6 February. On the same day, Ambassador KIKUTA Yutaka visited the JS YUUDACHI to acknowledge the mission activities. After a briefing from Commander TSUTSUMI Toshio regarding the mission and an overview of the vessel, Ambassador KIKUTA pointed out that ensuring the safety of maritime navigation is of crucial importance for both Japan and Brunei Darussalam.

The visit of the JS YUUDACHI to Brunei is scheduled to last three days, with approximately 200 crew members aboard, including 8 Japan Coast Guard personnel. This visit aims to promote friendly relations with the Royal Brunei Navy, as well as to provide supplies during their mission activities.
