A Courtesy visit from Brunei Youth Council

2026/1/19
On 14 January, Ambassador Kikuta received a courtesy call from Ms Nurul Izyan Avnre, the newly elected President, and Ms Nur Razanah Hj Rosli, Secretary General, of the Brunei Youth Council.

Ms Nurul introduced the Council and its long history, established in 1954, and outlined the key areas of focus for the coming years, including enhancing international activities through cooperation with diplomatic missions under her new presidency. Ambassador Kikuta highlighted the importance of youth exchanges and encouraged the Council to focus on shared interests and common challenges between Japan and Brunei.

To foster youth exchanges, the Embassy of Japan has been promoting programmes such as JENESYS, the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) and the MEXT Scholarship Programme. Recently, there has been an increase in academic cooperation between universities in Japan and Brunei. We look forward to further promoting and strengthening youth exchanges between our two countries.
