Ambassador Kikuta attended Commemorative Ceremony for the 15th Anniversary of BMC Production

On 11 September, Ambassador KIKUTA Yutaka attended the Commemorative Ceremony for the 15th Anniversary of Commercial Production of Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) at The Empire Brunei. BMC is a joint venture between Japan and Brunei, i.e. Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, ITOCHU Corporation, and Petroleum Brunei. It was established in 2006 and started the methanol production in 2010 to produce methanol from natural gas produced in Brunei and export it.
 
The ceremony was attended by the Honourable Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence as the guest of honour along with Brunei government officials, representatives from Brunei and Japanese affiliated companies, and the diplomatic corps in Brunei.
 
In his congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Kikuta commended the achievements of BMC, being a shining symbol in the ongoing economic diversification of Brunei, and expressed his sincere hope that BMC will continue to play its important part in Brunei’s sustainable future. He further conveyed deep gratitude to BMC and the people of Brunei for their longstanding friendship and goodwill towards Japan and its people.
