Conferment ceremony upon Yang Mulia Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Idriss bin Pengiran Temanggong Pengiran Haji Mohammad, former Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Japan

On 18 July 2025, the conferment ceremony upon Yang Mulia Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Idriss bin Pengiran Temanggong Pengiran Haji Mohammad, former Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Japan, was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan in Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Ambassador KIKUTA Yutaka. 

At the ceremony, Ambassador Kikuta presented the patent of decoration and the badge of the Order of the Rising Sun to Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Idriss.  

The Order of the Rising Sun was established in 1875 as Japan’s first national decoration, and is a prestigious Order that honours people in Japan and abroad who have made outstanding achievements in various fields of society. 

 Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Idriss is the longest-serving Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Japan, having held the position from 1987 to 1996, and significantly contributed to the development of Japan–Brunei relations. 

During his speech at the ceremony, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Idriss reflected on his years in Japan, highlighting the enduring bilateral commitments between the two countries, which consistently advanced toward peace, friendship, and cooperation.
