Extension of visa waiver period has commenced

Commemorating reciprocal extension of the visa waiver period from 14 days to 30 days between Japan and Brunei, which officially commenced on 10 December 2024, the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam and Brunei Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism held a welcoming reception with traditional hadrah performance for Japanese passengers at the Brunei International Airport on 11 December. This reception was in conjunction with the arrival of the first direct flight from Japan after the commencement of the new measure.
Ambassador MAEDA Toru and Yang Mulia Dayang Salinah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Acting Director of the Tourism Development Department, warmly welcomed the Japanese visitors.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Brunei Darussalam. It is expected that the new measure will contribute to further development of people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as further vitalization of business and tourism between the two countries.
