Cultural Showcase by Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (1 June 2024)

On 1 June 2024, the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) held a cultural showcase, commemorating Japan-Brunei Friendship year 2024, consisting of a Wadaiko performance, a Kendo demonstration and brass band performances by JMSDF Band Yokosuka. Yang Mulia Dr Siti Norkhalbi Binti haji Wahsalfelah, Acting Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, attended the showcase as the guest of honour. The JMSDF, which is on the Overseas Training Cruise 2024, called at Brunei Darussalam as their first port of call in the cruise, and they nurtured friendship with the people of Brunei at Times Square through their performances that showcased Japanese arts and cultures over two hours.
