The First Japan-Brunei Darussalam Defence Policy Dialogue

On June 27, Mr OKA Masami, Vice-Minister of Defense for International Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Japan and Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Strategy), Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam, co-chaired the First Japan-Brunei Darussalam Defence Policy Dialogue held in Brunei Darussalam. This Dialogue is based on the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on Defence Cooperation and Exchanges between the Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Defense, Japan, signed last February.
During the Dialogue, both sides exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral relations as well as regional and international affairs of common concern.
On June 28, Mr OKA paid a courtesy call on Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II. During the courtesy call, both sides reaffirmed that the two countries will work together for further development of bilateral and regional defence cooperation.






During the Dialogue, both sides exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral relations as well as regional and international affairs of common concern.
