JLPT 2020 Certificate Presentation Ceremony

2021/4/2

On 2 April 2021, the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam hosted a certificate presentation ceremony for Bruneians who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) – language level N3 to N5 – which was conducted on 6 December 2020. As the Guest of Honour, Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Hamzah bin Hj Sulaiman, the Minister of Education attended the event. During the ceremony, Dato and His Excellency YAMAMOTO Eiji, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, and, as a representative of JLPT committee, Pg Dr Mohd Iskandar bin Pg Hj Petra, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, handed over certificates to the successful examinees and congratulated them on their achievement, while encouraging them to continue studying the Japanese language.

The JLPT has been offered by the Japan Foundation since 1984 as a reliable means of evaluating and certifying the proficiency of non-native Japanese speakers. In Brunei, the JLPT was launched in 2008, and it has been held every December since then. Last year, 40 people took the JLPT, across a range of language levels, from N1 to N5[1], and 21 people passed successfully.

The JLPT 2021 will be held on 5 December 2021. Applications will be open from August till September 2021[2].
