Mr. Michiaki HIROSE (Chairman of TOKYO GAS CO.,LTD.) newly appointed Chairman of the Japan Brunei Friendship Association visits Brunei

On 18 July, Mr Michiaki Hirose, newly appointed Chairman of the Japan-Brunei Friendship Association* and Dato Paduka Haji Hamdillah bin Haji Abdul Wahab, President of the Brunei-Japan Friendship Association held a joint press conference at the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam. The Embassy of Japan coordinated the press conference on the occasion of the visit of Mr Hirose to Brunei.
H.E. Ambassador Motohiko Kato expressed his hope that Mr Hirose’s visit to Brunei will further strengthen the bilateral relationship and expressed gratitude for both association’s long-term cooperation.
Mr Hirose said that as the new chairman, JBFA is going to distribute information about Brunei culture and nature in Japan to increase Japanese tourists to Brunei to strengthen friendship between the two countries. In addition, he hopes that many Bruneians will visit Japan for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Dato Paduka Haji Hamdillah bin Haji Abdul Wahab echoed Mr. Hirose’s statement and said that the BJFA would more actively engage in the promotion of friendship.

The Japan-Brunei Friendship Association was established in 1985 to further deepen the friendship between Japan and Brunei through cultural and educational exchange. JBFA is working on promoting Brunei in Japan, planning events for youth exchange, and distributing information about Japan and Brunei in each country.
