H.E. Ambassador Kato's visit to Japan-related companies

Ambassador Kato and embassy staff visited two companies which have a close connection to Japan on 9 August 2017. BMC produces and exports methanol from Bruneian natural gas. The company was founded in 2006 as a joint venture company by Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, ITOCHU, and Petroleum Brunei.

BLNG was founded in 1969 as a company to liquefy natural gas and export it from Brunei. The company, whose shareholders are the Government of Brunei Darussalam, Shell and Mitsubishi Corporation, has been providing liquefied natural gas to Japan since 1972.

The visit gave us a good opportunity to re-confirm the long lasting friendship between Japan and Brunei through the trade of LNG and the company’s effort to contribute to the diversification of Bruneian economy.
