15 May 2008 22ND JAPANESE SPEECH CONTEST The
Embassy of This
year’s speech contest is open to the general public who are interested
in showing their proficiency in the language.
Participants
are required
to come up with original speeches and are free to choose any theme except
political and religious matters and each speech should be around 3 minutes
long. The
contest is divided into two categories: (1)
Beginner’s
Level and (2)
Advanced
Level. Requirements
for participants are as follows: 1.
Must
be resident in 2.
One
of the participants’ parents must not be Japanese. 3.
(1)The
Beginner’s Level:
those who
have studied the Japanese language for less than 2 years
as of 1st of August. (2)The
Advanced Level:
those who
have over 2 years of Japanese Language studying experience. Each
participant may be required to answer an oral question from the judges
after their speech. (Note)
However, it is possible for those who have less than 2 years studying
experience to join the Advanced level if they wish. 4.
Contestants
who have previously won first prize at the Advanced level contest cannot
apply. 5.

participate can obtain application forms from the Continuing Education
Division, Department of Technical Education, Ministry of Education or
download it from the Embassy of Japan website at http://www.bn.emb-japan.go.jp/.
The
script of
the speech
should use Japanese characters, either typed on a separate sheet or, if
handwritten, using the appropriate form and sent, along with the
application form to
the Japanese
Speech Contest Organizing Committee at the Continuing Education Division,
Ministry of Education (Jalan Pasar Baharu, Bandar Seri Begawan, BE3710)
by 30 June 2008.
No application will be accepted after this date. The
22nd Japanese Speech Contest will
be
supported by many
organizations such as UBD,
the Japanese Association in Brunei Darussalam, the Japan Brunei Friendship
Association and the Japan Foundation. The
first prize winner of the advanced level will be invited to Details
of information, including date and venue of pre-contest, will be provided
to the participants by the Committee. For
