The Tenth International MANGA Award
The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce that the Ninth International MANGA Award Executive Committee (Chairman: Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan) has formally decided to hold the Tenth International MANGA Award.
During the “Japanese Language and Culture Week”, which was held from 18 to 20 March 2016, MANGA workshops were conducted by the Japanese MANGA artist, Ms Manaru Tenkawa, and many Bruneians enjoyed the opportunity to improve their MANGA drawing skills (see: Report for Japanese Language and Culture Week). The people who participated in these MANGA workshops are strongly encouraged to apply.
The International MANGA Award was established in May 2007 upon the initiative of then Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Taro Aso, with the aim of rewarding MANGA creators who contribute to the spread of MANGA culture overseas and international cultural exchanges through MANGA. The award has been held every year since its establishment.
The MANGA judged the best among all the submitted works will be awarded the Gold Award; the next three shall receive the Silver Awards. The recipients will be invited to Japan by the Japan Foundation to attend the award ceremony. During their stay in Japan, they will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with MANGA creators as well as visit MANGA publishing companies and related places.
The Award’s entry acceptance information is as follows:
(1) The application period is from 1 April to 30 June 2016.
(2) The applications are to be sent to the Embassy of Japan in Brunei or the P.O. Box of the Tenth International MANGA Award.
