Japanese Language and Culture Week was a Great Success: Japanese Ambassador

Mr Hashimoto Itsuo, the Japanese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam hosted a high tea in appreciation of the second UBD Japan Week at this residence.

In the welcoming remarks the Japanese Ambassador said "Cultural understanding is a great source in the strengthening of the bilateral relations between Brunei and Japan.

"As you are aware Japan has recently appointed an ambassador on charge of culture. He has been very active for decades in promoting goodwill and friendship in the world. He is the popular cartoon robot cat, called DORAEMON. I know many of you like Japanese anime; they reflect some notable features of Japan, which has a lot to do in common with universal virtues of mankind," he added.

Mr Hashimoto Itsuo also said, "I am very pleased to know that this year's Japanese Language and Culture Week has attracted more Bruneian people, in particular, young students and was a great success. Hence, I must thank and congratulate you for achieving a great success in the Japanese Language and Culture Week Event."

"As I mentioned in my speech at the opening ceremony of the Japanese Language and Culture Week, I was delighted by the effort shown by UBD students in organizing the whole event. I hope that each member of BJFA UBD Chapter will continue to take active involvement and participation in future events to be organized by our Embassy. I also hope that some of you will take interest in studying in Japan in the near future," he added.
